It looks like Samsung is looking to pull off another simultaneous offering treat of the Galaxy S series smartphone to 3 of China’s mobile networks, similar to the magical feat they did in the U.S.  China Telecom, China Mobile, and China Unicom will be receiving their own version of the handset, all capable of the 3G standard on their respective carrier.

This is very exciting news. I think that Three have provided some very reasonable pricing plans for the Galaxy Tab. The only thing that is not mentioned in these pricing details is how much the device will cost itself. This is the same situation we have seen with Vodafone UK.

Hopefully we will get some more information from Three regarding the Galaxy Tab soon. In the mean time here is the full press release below:

South Korea gets pink Samsung Galaxy S
posted by: Steve Ginter in Android on 09 9th, 2010 | | Comments Off

Looks like Samsung is appealing to the ladies with a new pink version of their Galaxy S (M110S) smartphones.  We’ve already seen the “snow white” version, but unfortunately it hasn’t been sold anywhere outside of South Korea.  Most likely, this will be the case as well for the pink version.  Oh well, those trendy Korean girls get all the love when showing off their phones.

Android 2.1 finally released for Rogers HTC Magic
posted by: Steve Ginter in Android on 09 9th, 2010 | | Comments Off

We were expecting an udpate to the Rogers HTC Magic mid-year 2010 when they announced it back in January.  Just when we thought all hope was lost, this almost forgotten phone finally gets it feet into Android 2.1 shoes!  The news comes to us from Mary Pretotto via twitter, an employee of Rogers focused on their customer needs.  So if you are on Rogers and want to keep in the know, be sure to follow her updates.

It’s also noted that some users are having issues with their updates – one being that of having enough storage.  Apparently the minimum free space needed for the update is 25 MB, so try to make some room if you have a full library of apps.  As always, be sure to backup your phone before doing any major updates.  Especially since HTC is stating on their site that this update will delete anything in your internal memory that is not part of the OS.

Got an HTC Wildfire that’s been acting up?  No worries, HTC has squashed those annoying bugs via a firmware OTA update.  The fix is to include issues related to Facebook, Google Talk, and Android Market, as well as changing the way it handles importing contacts.  HTC recommends updating over wifi due to it’s large size.

It may not be the coveted Froyo update I’m sure many of you are waiting on, but better to have a stable phone first before any major changes come. Hit the jump to read the full announcement:

Google to launch TV service in the US this fall, worldwide in 2011
posted by: Tyler Cunningham in Android on 09 9th, 2010 | | Comments Off

Google TV certainly made the rounds at IFA this past week, and Google CEO Eric Schmidt was on hand to deliver the final keynote address.  The service, which is built on the Android platform, will allow users full access to the Web right from their TV, including streaming video from YouTube and Netflix, social media access from Twitter and Facebook, and full Google search from the Chrome browser.

Google TV will be released in several forms this fall, including an HDTV from Sony, a hardware box from Logitech called Revue, and built in to Dish Network set-top-boxes, all for an undetermined price.  Other companies are heavily rumored to be in talks with Google over releasing their own Google TV hardware, including Samsung and LG.  Google TV will also be released worldwide starting in 2011.

Google will be going head to head with Apple this fall, who announced their revamped Apple TV at a special event in San Fransisco last week.  The device will cost $99, and will also bring streaming video from the Web, although it will not have access to the App Store as was expected.

Google TV will initially launch with a handful of built in apps, with the full Android Market being released sometime in 2011.
